In administering your insurances it will be necessary for us to pass your information to selected third parties, including insurers and other product or service providers who may also provide us with business and compliance support in the course of carrying out our rights and obligations arising from any arrangements or contracts entered into between you and us; this may also include debt collection agencies.
We will also conduct a search with a credit reference agency to assist us in providing a quote to you, and to check which payment options we can make available to you. A copy of this search will be left on your credit file whether or not your application proceeds but will not affect your credit score.
Information we may use and/ or share with third parties such as insurers and other product or service providers, will include information you have given us and which has been supplied to us in connection with any application for insurance which may have been supplied to us from a variety of sources, including, without limitation, a credit reference agency, the Claims and Underwriting Exchange register and other similar databases. We will collect and share your information for the purpose of helping us check the information that you have given to us and to prevent fraud.
Where relevant, your policy details will be added to the Motor Insurance Database (MID), run by the Motor Insurers Information Centre (MIIC). Your personal data is held on the MID for the purpose of allowing the Police to consult the MID and establish who is insured to drive the vehicle.
If you are involved in an accident, (in the UK or abroad) other UK Insurers, the Motor Insurers Bureau and MIIC may search the MID to ascertain relevant policy information. Persons with a valid claim in respect of a road traffic accident (including citizens of other countries) may also obtain certain information which is held on the MID.
